Bardstown Village, KY – (Early Confederate) Battalion Muster
JUNE 13th

The Nelson Grays will host a Tennessee Valley Battalion Muster at Bardstown this year. The Battalion will be portraying an early war mustering-in for the Soldiers. Activities should include a camp set-up, marching practice, and rifle drills. Some re-enactors will be presenting the roles of civilians of the period. Camps will be set up at the Bardstown Village. The nearby Wickland Plantation will be used for our drill field.

World War II Commemoration
SEPT 6th

Festivities start at 12:30pm.Location: Bardstown Civil War Museum, 310 E. Broadway, Bardstown, KY 40004.

World War I Re-enactment
OCT 17th

10am – 5pm. Event also includes info on the 1918 Pandemic and a statement from our Mayor, Dick Heaton. Location: Bardstown Civil War Museum, 310 E. Broadway, Bardstown, KY 40004.

Bardstown Village Nov. 7-8 (Confederate) “Friendsgiving”
This is our 5th Kentucky Saturday living history event and Saturday evening “Friendsgiving” party (not really Thanksgiving or Christmas). This is a one-day event for the public. Camp will open to the public at 9 a.m. for interaction with visitors, and close to visitors at 4 p.m. so we can set-up up for evening festivities. Location: Bardstown Civil War Museum, 310 E. Broadway, Bardstown, KY 40004.

September 21, 2019 (During the Kentucky Bourbon Festival)
Fighting Spirit: Bourbon Salute to Our Veterans
5:00pm – 10:00pm : $50 per person
Our Military Museums welcome you for an evening of entertainment, food, bourbon tasting and military re-enactment.  Focused on World War II, Louisville’s 29th infantry division re-enactors will be displaying and demonstrating  weaponry, camp life, & basic military maneuvers of the WWII era.  Actor/Musician Gary Vidito will perform “WWII: A Survivor’s Story” telling the harrowing story of courage, survival and the determination of that “Greatest Generation” to defend and preserve the freedom we enjoy today.  Also, the Union Civil War re-enactors of the USS Louisville Union Navy City Class Ironclad will give tours of the main Civil War Museum, voted the best collection of artifacts of the Civil War in the Western Theatre and including the grand replica Confederate Submarine, H.L. Hunley. Included with your ticket will be heavy hors d’ouerves, bourbon tasting and a complimentary beer/wine bar.


Mar 24, 2018  :  (CS) Living History (Citizens Guard Muster)
The 5th KY Company “B” will present the mustering-in of troops from the Citizens Guard of the state militia by Capt. John Wickliffe. On Saturday morning we will assemble Camp Charity (Bardstown Village) to be inspected by a surgeon, enlist, and be given rations and pay. Instruction in the manual of arms will be given along with some firing demonstrations. Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on the troops, observe and ask questions. We will also be working with local Boy Scout troops, helping fulfill requirements for a merit badge on US and local history. The scouts will get some “hands-on” training, and will participate in the mustering-in.

November 10, 2018 : WW2 Living History Event
There will be a Living History Event at the Old Bardstown Village on Saturday, November 10 2018. WW2 re enactors will portray the 29th Infantry Division from 10am to 4pm. Activities include Garrison life, close order drills, and Manuel arms demonstrations. The cost of the Special Event only is $5 adults, $3 children 6-15. 5 and under are free. The event will be free with full admission price to all 4 museums.

November 11 : Veterans Open House at the Hal Moore Museum
Old Bardstown Village/Civil War Museum invites the community to honor the Veterans of all wars on Veterans Day. The Museum will host an Open House at the Hal Moore Museum, 2nd & Broadway/Museum Row from 10 am to 3 pm. FREE admission to the Hal Moore Museum and refreshments will be served.

November 17, 2018 : Civil War Living History Event
There will be a Civil War Living History Event at the Old Bardstown Village on Saturday November 17 2018. The Living History will be with re enactors portraying the 5th Kentucky Orphans Brigade from 9am to 4pm. The event will be a demonstration of camp life, military drills, and conversations with the soldiers. Admission to the Special Event only is $5 adults, $3 children 6 to 15 and 5 years old and younger free. The event will be free with regular admission to all four museums.
